About Haunted Helpers
My love for Halloween goes back to when I was a child. Growing up, I had an extremely hard childhood. In the middle of the night, the police pulled me and my three siblings out when I was very young. From there, I was placed in multiple foster homes. It was a very hard time in my life. I had limited supplies and holidays barely existed. I had a very loving Foster Care Specialist. My first memory of where my love of Halloween started was because of her. When I was in elementary school, all of the students had costumes except me. She made me a costume out of paper grocery bags. I loved it.
A few years later, I was taken in by a family who would later adopt me at the age of 12. My adoptive father was the most caring person. He watched every softball game, every track meet, every soccer game, grew sunflowers with me, and most memorable, he loved to decorate for Halloween with me. Each year we would decorate, and it was my favorite memory we did.
My love of Halloween grew each year. Once I had kids, I always made sure to give them the best Halloween I could, just as my dad did. Not many families decorate anymore but we always make sure to. Even though my children are all adults now, I decorate more now than ever. We decorate the inside of our home in August. October and fall brings me so much happiness. I want children to enjoy the holiday as I have. My dream for Haunted Helpers is to continue to make sure all foster children have costumes. For the last few years, except last year due to medical issues, I have been able to donate costumes to foster homes. With the generosity of people from many walks of my life, I have had hundreds of costumes each year donated. Dropping them off at the homes is a deep feeling of gratitude and love for those that helped me in the years I was in foster homes. I know how important it is for children to be able to enjoy the holidays.
Outside of the Halloween season, I work in the construction industry, construction is my second love. I work heavily in civil earthwork and paving. I also have a construction consultant business where I am fortunate to help many different industries. For hobbies, I enjoy the Greek composer Yanni and I love reading. I have four children and two grandchildren.
If you would like to donate costumes, please reach out to me.
